Ann Doss Helms we need to stop hiding the truth!

She recently had a story about a Marsh guy who worked like a dog to get our schools back to segregation.

It seems he moved here back in 1973, the very same year I was graduating from West Charlotte after being forced to leave/bussed from Myers Park a couple of years earlier. My parents let me make the decision to go to private school or go to WC.

It was a great few years, other than the riots, and one in which I was kicked in the head in the quad at WC, but the school came together and we made it a great school. A lot of this success is due to the hard work by Dr. Stroud our Principal.

So they told my parents this would not be needed after a couple of decades and everyone would be on the same learning level.

And fast forward to today. I have volunteered at WC, and requested and worked at the more challenged schools, a lot and you know what I found out. All we did was hide students who did not want to learn, and have done so for years. The African American Male graduation rate is way less than 50 percent. It has been this way for a LLLLLLLLLLoooooooooonnnnnnnnnngggggggg time. Yet we still feel churning and changing will make things better so we push busing again. So where are those white students? They only represent less than 36 percent of the current students in CMS.

Back in my day white students represented about 80+ or so percent. Oh and be sure to remember that African Americans are the fastest growing group of home schoolers in the country. So all this BRIGHT FLIGHT from our schools may have gone unnoticed by Ann and the school system who yearn for quick fixes.

Why not say what the problem is: A family breakdown in all the races. For some reason we have made it a career for people to live independently with their support (food, money, housing, health care etc.) coming from the government. And this is enhanced by having more children. What is more unique is to allow a……… say guest for a few years to live with them at this government sponsored housing and pay for all the upkeep etc. while still getting support and having more children with this guest.

And the fact we have not had any growth in CMS other than Hispanic students is something Ann has not been open to us about. Or if she has it was buried in a story I might have missed.

Anyway Ann I tried to get you to find out why they allowed CMS to run a pro abortion/choice show on their television but you panned me as you always do a lot of readers, don’t think we are going to let the Observer let you keep doing what you have done for the last 10 or so years and keep cheer leading everything that comes from CMS. You are a good writer but your investigative skills have not been used in a while, get busy we need the truth from CMS and your need to uncover it.
