He reminds me of a quote:

What chilled and almost cowed [Ransom] most was the union of malice with something nearly childish. For temptation, for blasphemy, for a whole battery of horrors, he was in some sort prepared; but hardly for this petty, indefatigable nagging as of a nasty little boy at a preparatory school. Indeed no imagined horror could have surpassed the sense which grew within him as the slow hours passed, that this creature was, by all human standards, inside out – its heart on the surface and its shallowness at the heart. On the surface, great designs and an antagonism to Heaven which involved the fate of worlds: but deep within, when every veil had been pierced, was there, after all, nothing but a black puerility, an aimless empty spitefulness content to sate itself with the tiniest cruelties…

Why then are our schools in such a mess our taxes out of control and the like. After all they are not listening to him and going on with their program.

I find this gem of yours to be as stupid as some of the comments James mad:–>The truth is there’s no black community, in Charlotte or anywhere else. There’s no white community either.<– I “see” your point, just as I see James’ point, but for you to say there is no black or white community shows just how pathetic you and the rest of the left are.

Brilliant writing at usual Tommy. I admire your ability to take a subject, break it down to its essence and explain it in words and phrases we wish we could come up with but can’t.

We all make mistakes and every now and then say something we shouldn’t have said, be it in form or substance. The problem with James is that every time he opens his mouth he is wrong in both ways. Occassionally, there is some validity to his arguments. Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to think, much less care, about the way he presents them and that hurts his credibility and makes him look like a dim-witted, callous, racist idiot. A little bit of forethought would help his case but, evidently, he lacks that ability.

Bill James is right on target.

Liberals and minorities, especially blacks, can’t stand the truth if it isn’t going to swing something in their favor.

Need proof? Just look at how blacks vilified Bill Cosby when he, one of their own race dared to suggest that they be responsible…and yet they look up to folks like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson who both make a living by stirring the pot of discontent and living in the past.

“If you have ever worked in financial companies you would realize, at the “Executive” level, it is 95% white with a diversity hiring there for show.”

You don’t get it. Assume 95% of execs in banks are white. Now isn’t that irrelevant to what percent of whites are bankers?

So assume 48% of black women between 14 and 48 have herpes. What percent of whites were bank execs who drove the economy down? Maybe .001%?

That’s were Tommy loses the statistical breadcrumbs, as you did.

I don’t think Bill James can properly draw the conclusions he
did from the study he cited.

That doesn’t mean that further study wouldn’t confirm/deny it,
just that he generalized a bit too much from this study.

Latching onto “promiscuity” as an explanation for the
differences is a bit dramatic.

It could be something simpler like lack of condom use.

Either way, it seems that this should be worth further

It’s like finding that HIV was more prevalent among
He trashed a Cambridge police officer and corrected it. There are three former Duke Lacross players that deserve an apology while their accuser sits in jail. I understand the reason for this article was to create a negative image about a politician. How about a factual article about Nick Mackey next time to even the scales a little?
“In the last couple of years, a group of bankers, financial traders and home lenders has nearly bankrupted our country. The vast majority of them are white. Is the rest of the white community responsible for the way those folks were promiscuous with our money? And do black folks get a pass on having to pay for it?”

If those bankers who drove the economy down (forget about Barney Franks, et. al., for the moment) comprised 48% of white men between 21 and 55, then the answer is “yes”. What percent of white men do you think were in that group of bankers, Tommy?

Yet, the company continues to benefit from infrastructure here in the U.S. MY tax dollars paid for the infrastructure, yet I can’t get that job unless I am willing to move to India (at my expense) and take a 60% – 80% reduction in wages.

Yet those same companies are looking for tax handouts wherever they can find them!

Funny…those same companies that can’t possibly expand are growing like wild in India, China, and Manilla.

Businesses in general are looking to drive down their costs and take as much as they can. If that means cutting a thousand workers in Charlotte and re-hiring them in Mumbai…so be it.

Serious answer: The way businesses are running currently in America, I have no idea!

Look at the small business owner…always screaming for less taxes and more handouts. But who buses my table…”Spanish speaking, low wage earning” and I venture to bet illegal.

Look at your roofer…white salesman followed by Spanish work crew.

That trend seems to permeate small businesses…

Bill James’ problem is the glee to which he points out the short commings of groups that don’t fit his ideal vision. He reads the numbers (then rereads them to correct his original first mistakes of understanding). He doesn’t ask the nuanced questions of why or probe deaper, just makes generalizations and pronouncements.

Correct.

Bill james has much larger issues to concern himself with like how to cut taxes, make CharMeck more business friendly, and how to weed out and reduce waste in our local government.

Yet his fixation is with AA’s including his latest foray into herpes. Funny…I have NEVER heard “So what is the AA herpes infiltration like in CharMeck” come up in any meeting I have ever been a part of related to business. Maybe just the meetings Bill James attends.
“Herpes is an issue that will have to be addressed along with the social engineering that is happening. This is the beginning…”:

And honestly, I am concerned about the small business owner stealing from America in general and the taxpayers specifically by hiring illegals and somehow escaping punishment. One of MANY concerns I have…but referenced “how to run my business” I figured I would throw that one in.

Because the problem in America, North Carolina, Mecklenburg, and/or Charlotte is not herpes in the AA community. But Bill James seems to think that is important.
Just to toss out some observations, ideas and comments.

1) It’s not that I think AA are more or less promiscuous. They may use condoms less. The rate of out of wedlock sex is probably about the same among the same age groups.

2) Clustering. AA’s tend to live in more urban areas a greater part of whites live in more rural areas. I wonder what the ratio even within the AA community is for those who live in more urban areas versus those who live in more rural areas. It just seems like it could spread faster through an urban area just due to the number of people that are present. One very promiscuous person in a city has more chances to spread a disease than one in a rural area.

Bill James only suffers from a terminal case of “foot in mouth” disease, but, in his case, there’s no cure, and never will be. born a moron, always a moron. By the way, Samsara, do you wear your white hood, and swaztica armband in public, or just in your church?

Bill James is a sad example of an effective politician. When he says stupid things, he trivializes important subject matter. His comments, though perhaps statistically off base by some margin, are pure common sense, but not proper for elected officials to say in public. You are not elected to insult or embarrass ANY member of this community. An apology is demanded, and expected.

You have to wonder if Tommy has done any honest, in-depth thinking in his life. The African-American, out-of-wedlock birthrate, is 60to70% depending on what statistics one believes…yet Tommy can’t get his arms around STDs in the AA community. Tommy….that means the rest of society has to pay for almost everything for these kids because a single, teen-age mother sure can’t…and it still doesn’t keep these kids out of jail…or get them educated, fed, or taken care of by the doctors. Wake up Tommy…and before you write one of these articles…why don’t you actually research the topic you are writing about. Finally, you are a columnist…..why not have the courage to write the truth rather than this PC drivel……….
Why not get say 50 of these previous stepping stone houses/housing which have been in play for say two years to at 15 years and show us how they have worked.
